Turbulence in microwave electronics: Theoretical approaches and results of experiments

Аннотация

The current status of the various theoretical approaches to the description of turbulence in the electron flow and electronic devices of ultrahigh frequencies (UHF) is shown. A three types of turbulence in nonlaminar electron flow were considered. The first type of turbulence is caused by the intersection of the electron trajectories (eg, due to thermal velocities) and it is common to all the electron flows. The turbulence of the second type is due to the instability of the electron beams, because of exponentially increasing of small perturbations (such instabilities are diocotron and slipping-instability). The third type of turbulence - vortex turbulence, whose origin lay filamentarization of electron flow. The results of an experimental study of turbulent electron flows and electronic generators with their use in stand-alone mode and in a mode of supply of an external signal were shown. The different types of broadband noise-generators of microwave oscillations were considered. We discuss the phenomenological model of turbulent electron flow which are chains of superradiant clots containing electron-oscillators, chains of «vortex» which describes by modified equations of Van der Pol.
