N2 - Project of submillimeter FEL based on a relativistic electron beam is developed at BINP in collaboration with IAP. The beam with parameters Ee= 5−20 MeV, Ib= 1−2 kA, τ= 160−200 ns is produced at the exit of an induction linac. According to theoretical prediction, this beam allows us to produce pulses of coherent submm-radiation (0.3-1 THz) with record power of a sub-GW level and energy content up to ~ 100 J. The paper presents the results of simulations and the experiments on the beam compression and transport in a vacuum channel of sub-mm FEL.
