Taking into account heat losses in experiments with locally heated shear-driving liquid films in a mini-channel

Аннотация

Recent works of the authors have shown that the use of thin liquid films, moving under the action of gas in a flat mini-channel, is an efficient way for high heat flux removal. In present work, we carefully study the heat losses in such experiments. Total heat losses are divided into two parts: heat losses into the atmosphere and heat spreadings from the heater into the substrate. The value of relative heat losses into the atmosphere decreases with increasing critical heat flux, and it is not more than about 15 % for the critical heat flux above 400 W/cm2. The value of relative heat spreadings to the substrate also decreases with increasing critical heat flux and it is less than about 6 % for the critical heat flux above 350 W/cm2. Thus, for the critical heat flux above 400 W/cm2, the value of the total heat losses does not go beyond approximately 20 %.
