abstract = "Experimental study of flow in the draft-tube cone of a laboratory air model hydro-turbine was performed. The evolution of the integral swirl number varied from BEP regime to deep part load operation conditions (discharge Q was a constant and speed of runner rotation n was varied) was found. Averaged velocity profiles were measured by two-component LDA system and were used for calculations of the swirl number. Tangential velocity pulsation spectra in the center of draft tube cone were analyzed to describe PVC formation. Swirl number as an analytical expression of the operating parameters (flow rate, speed of rotation) was estimated by model from work [1] and showed good agreement in the region of zero-swirl condition.",
