abstract = "The paper describes experimental results on generation of heterogeneous flows with nanoparticles in a short-duration wind tunnel. A piston reactor is used as a settling chamber. Nanoparticles of carbon, silicon carbide, and silicon are synthesized in the reactor by the method of adiabatic compression. A method of obtaining particles coated by carbon is described. A supersonic flow generated by this method can be used for studying gas dynamics of flows containing nanoparticles.",
