Treatment of the resonance curve recorded during measurement of the signal of particle rupture from the QCM surface

Abstract

QCM was applied to measure the force of particle detachment from the QCM surface. Particle detachment is a probabilistic process. For the system nanoparticle – QCM, detachment occurs in the vicinity of the resonance. The particles have a definite size distribution, so rather broad rupture signal is observed. The reasons of the distortions on the resonance curve of the QCM are considered, the kinds of rupture signals arising from the detachment of aerosol particles from QCM surface are studied, the ways to isolate the signals from distortions and noise are evaluated to propose the method which is best suitable to calculate the value of rupture signal.
