The material composition and dispersion properties of unconventional reservoir according to electromagnetic sounding

Abstract

A new approach to the lithological interpretation of well log data is proposed to determine the material composition of the Bazhenov Formation and to distinguish its main lithological rock types according to electromagnetic sounding, based on the effect of frequency dispersion of electrophysical characteristics. The content of rock-forming clay, siliceous, carbonate components, as well as the organic matter and pyrite, are determined using the mixing formulas for frequency-dependent electrophysical characteristics. Based on electromagnetic well logging data, realistic lithological models are constructed and the main types of rocks of the Bazhenov Formation are identified in accordance with the modern concept of the distribution of rock-forming components. A comparative analysis of the obtained models is performed and correlation schemes for the central and southeastern regions of Western Siberia are constructed, according to which a spatial change in the material composition and geological structure of the Bazhenov Formation are established.
