On the Stability of Bi-Mass Electromechanical Systems with Magnetic Couplings

Abstract

This article describes the function chart of a bi-mass electromechanical system (BMEMS) with a magnetic coupling. This diagram is based on representing the forced action of the magnetic field between the coupling halves as an inertia-free elastic coupling. A transfer function is obtained between the electromagnetic torque generated by the motor and the output angular velocity for a linearized system based on Mason’s formula. The stability of the linear electromechanical system is considered using the Hurwitz criterion. The analysis allows concluding that the linearized BMEMS with a magnetic coupling without external feedbacks is always stable. Transient processes in nonlinear and linearized systems are analyzed in the MATLAB/Simulink object-visual modeling environment.
