Economic assessment of environmental damage and recovery plan for gold mining wastes

Abstract

In this article, we systematize the main methodological approaches, used in Russia and abroad to the assessment of the accumulated environmental damage. The authors of the study also used the enlarged assessment method to calculate the economic assessment of the accumulated environmental damage around the Komsomolsk gold recovery plant. Input data were obtained by empirical measurements, which were obtained by employees of The Geo-Electrochemistry Laboratory of the Trofimuk Institute of Petroleum-Gas Geology and Geophysics of the Siberian Branch of the RAS. Based on these data, the authors of the article received an economic assessment of the environmental damage to water and land resources caused by the economic activities of the gold recovery plant. According to our calculations, the total value of environmental damage to water bodies and land resources from the factory's activities is 6,276 thousand dollars.
