Combining logical and statistical rule reasoning and verification for medical applications

Abstract

We propose a methodology of structuring domain knowledge as a four-layered framework. The taxonomy consists of four hierarchically related components which include: Ontology, General Knowledge, Statistics and Probability Based Knowledge and individual cases. Further, we suggest using statistics based techniques to verify rules representing General Knowledge and to test and construct new decision rules.
