Abstract

A model of a thin diaphragm in a rectangular waveguide is discussed. Expressions for determining the amplitudephase characteristics of the diaphragm are presented. The position of the diaphragm nearest basic reference plane is determined, where the reflection coefficient is a real negative number. The basic reference plane is shown theoretically and experimentally to be on the right side of the diaphragm, i.e. outward from the generator. The obtained relationships are shown to allow the amplitudephase characteristics of the diaphragm to be experimentally determined using the measuring line.
