Abstract
The Prony decomposition differs from the well-known Fourier decomposition in that it uses damped harmonics. Currently, it is successfully used in many fields of science and technology in the study of signals with attenuation. This decomposition may be of interest in the analysis of geophysical data. So, for example, some transformations can be created on its basis for studying frequency-dependent effects in the response of a medium. One of these transformations is the Prony filtering, which provides the separation of damped harmonic components from the recorded seismic wave field, which is shown in the work on the example of several experiments with Berlage model impulses. Components extracted using Prony filtering and presented in the form of seismic time section images can serve as the basis for the analysis of frequency-dependent effects of the wave field, which allows direct qualitative prediction of target objects in the search and exploration of hydrocarbon deposits. In this work, such an opportunity is demonstrated on the results of physical modeling.
