Abstract

The article is devoted to the consideration of the complexes of fire-making apparatus of the
population of the Minusinsk Basin in the New Time. The first complex includes 19 traditional Khakass
fire-making known as ottykh. They are characterized by the simplicity of the decorative finish and the
use of silver-plated iron plates. Unlike neighboring peoples, the ottykh did not become an obligatory
addition to men’s outerwear. The tradition of making and using traditional Khakass fire-making
lasted until the middle of the twentieth century. The second complex consisted of single-edged steels
that appeared together with the Russian population. Only one of them was recorded in the burial,
the rest were discovered by chance. Of the total number, most of the steels (23 specimens) are of
the kalachevidnyy type, which are divided into two variants that existed simultaneously. The use of
traditional Khakass fire-making and steels is an example of intercultural interaction between the
population of the Minusinsk Basin.
