Abstract

Mechanisms of major depression, including neurotransmitter, neuroendocrine, neurotrophic, immunological, and molecular-genetic processes, now extended by experimental and clinical data on the impact of impairments in the interaction of brain structures - connectivity in the etiology of this pathology. According to this information, the manifestations of depression and the additional possibilities of its therapy are not only, and may be not so much in the intra-neuronal and/or synaptic processes, as in the coordinated normal or aberrant neuron activity of the network involved in the manifestation of the psycho-emotional state of the individual. The review considers modem neuronal network aspects of the etiology and possible approaches to the treatment of depressive disorders.
