Profile Information

The main theme of research of the laboratory is the elaboration of new approaches, and the development of existing ones, to efficient catalytic processing of renewable and non-renewable hydrocarbon raw materials, including for energetic use.

The main areas of research are:
-study of catalysts for hydrogen energy production, biomass processing and for processing of associated petroleum gas and light alkanes;
-development of methods for precise synthesis of bimetallic catalysts;
-development of approaches to intensification of catalytic processes using small modular reactors.
In the field of renewable raw materials processing, studies are being conducted on catalytists acting on hydrocracking and hydrodeoxygenation of organic oxygen compounds, which are produced by thermal degradation of plant biomass. The study aims at identifying the main mechanisms regulating the influence of the nature of catalysts on their activity and selectivity in hydrogenation processes, in order to produce hydrocarbon fuel and its intermediates for chemical synthesis.

In the field of hydrogen energy research are carried out on new anode and cathode electrocatalysts, as well as on catalysts for the production and purification of hydrogen from different raw materials.

In the field of catalysts preparation, our laboratory is actively working on the development of methods for the selective preparation of supported bimetallic nanoparticle catalysts with a given chemical and phase composition. We are developing an original approach, based on the decomposition of double complex salts in the pores of the carrier.

In the field of intensification of catalytic processes, studies are carried out on running flow reactions in millimeter and microchannel devices. Studies about the possible control of chemical processes using laser radiation are also conducted.

In the field of processing of associated petroleum gas and of gas separation, studies are being carried out on their catalytic conversion into marketable natural gas, suitable for use in power plants and transportation through pipelines.
