Organization profile

The laboratory studies the deep structure of various geological structures and identifies the mechanisms of their formation and development. For this purpose, tomography algorithms based on the use of data on volumetric and surface seismic waves obtained on the basis of global, regional and local networks are developed in the laboratory. The laboratory team pays special attention to the study of the sources of modern volcanism in various parts of the world. As part of this theme, work is carried out annually on the installation of seismic networks on active volcanoes of Kamchatka, as a result of which unique data are obtained, the processing results of which are published in leading world publications
