Profile Information

Research of the Laboratory is concentrated on developing a methodology and tools for studying and forecasting the processes of evolution and self-organization of complex economic systems on the base of modern modeling paradigms. The result is a disaggregated approach to the process of modeling the dynamics of socio-economic systems and assessing the effectiveness of regulatory impacts.

Over the past decades the approach to regulating economic development has fundamentally changed. Since today’s economic dynamics are based on highly decentralized decision-making processes, and in practice it is necessary to deal with many autonomous business entities, regulatory measures take predominantly indirect nature and are aimed at generating favorable environmental and infrastructural conditions. Of particular importance is the assessment of the effect of managerial impacts on complex systems and the issue of compatibility of development mechanisms. In this regard, economic science is looking for new approaches to forecasting the development of economic systems at various levels, which requires the creation of new analysis and modeling tools.

Research areas:

development of an agent-oriented input-output model of the Russian economy that is capable to represent the structural evolution of the spatial economy of Russia as a result of the individual actions of numerous economic agents, including innovators. The pilot version of the model can be used as a training ground for studying the properties of statistical quasi-equilibrium of a multi-regional economy;

development of an analytical apparatus that allows us to study decision-making processes and economic activities as well as the conditions and limitations for their development; to predict changes in the sectoral and spatial structure of the national and regional economies. Development of theory and methodology of modeling
