Organization profile

The main activity of the joint laboratory is to to study physics of heavy flavors: c- and b-quarks. Large data sample has been acuumulated in Belle experiment in the energy range from 10.0 GeV up to 11 GeV. This allows to study higher excitation states of bottomonium system.  In 2010, the Belle experiment  stopped taking data. However, data analysis is still ongoing.  Thanks to the great success of the Belle experiment  a desicion has been made to initiate next phase of the experiment with deeply upgraded detector and collider. The new superKEKB collider is expected to provide higher luminosity (by factor 40) and somewhat wider energy range.  In 2018 detector Belle II has started data taking. For on-line measurement of the instantenous luminosity? a standalone module has been developep by members of the joint laboratory in association with electronic department of BINP.  The module has been fully integrated in the Belle II data acquisition system and provides crucial information for both detector performance and collider tuning
